ZDF documentary on the Kaya inspection station

In spring 2026, German public broadcaster ZDF produced a feature on our family and our work as part of its „Sons of Neukölln” documentary series. The film offers a personal look at two brothers from Berlin-Neukölln working in vehicle inspection and appraisal, and at the family business behind it all.

About the feature

The film follows daily life at our TÜV NORD inspection station and at my brother Engin’s appraisal office, both located at the same address in Berlin-Rudow. Staff shortages, technical challenges, personal setbacks, and the bond of a family that has worked side by side for years, the documentary tells all of it, without sugar-coating.

A few words from us

We had the production team accompany us during our daily work for several weeks. It was an unusual experience for all of us, working in front of a camera while appointments, inspections, and customer enquiries continue requires real concentration. But we accepted, because we wanted to make the profession of vehicle inspector and appraiser more visible.

In public perception, the main inspection is often seen as a tiresome obligation. In reality, it’s a contribution to road safety, carried out by many professionals with technical expertise, a sense of responsibility, and a fair dose of patience. If the documentary helps shift that perception towards something more nuanced, the effort was worth it.

What changes for our customers

Nothing. Our team, our opening hours, our way of working remain the same. The documentary is a snapshot in time, the work continues as before, every working day, with the same care for every vehicle that comes onto our lift.
